At Solent Stems, we feel lucky to be part of such a special place. The Daedalus estate has a rich history – once the home of HMS Daedalus, it’s now a lively and welcoming community that blends the old with the new.

On D-Day in 1944, HMS Daedalus played a vital role in history. As a base for over 100 fighter aircraft, it became the busiest airfield in the country, sending waves of aircraft into action at a turning point in the war. That legacy of courage and service still echoes through the site today.

The transformation since then has been remarkable. The Arena Wing, once silent, now has fresh energy, and the wider estate has grown into a busy mix of homes, businesses, and green spaces. Solent Airport and the HM Coastguard helicopter base bring a unique buzz to the area, reminding us of the important role this site continues to play. And with the Daedalus Waterfront development on the horizon, the future here is looking brighter than ever.

What makes Daedalus truly special, though, are the people – families settling into new homes, entrepreneurs building their businesses, and neighbours coming together to create a vibrant, diverse community. We’re proud to serve them all.
